Reliable compaction of mixed-bed resin in cartridges through targeted vertical vibration
In water treatment, the precise compaction of ion exchange resin in filter cartridges is crucial to ensure maximum filtration performance. Our customer also offers an on-site service using a service vehicle, where spent resins are replaced directly at the end customer’s location. This resulted in specific requirements for a compact, robust and process-reliable solution that ensures dependable and reproducible compaction of the resin.
• High manual effort
• Fluctuating quality: insufficient compaction leads to reduced filtration performance
• Moist and electrostatically charged resin leads to clumping and reject material
The cartridges are positioned on a compact vibrating table in the service vehicle, which is driven by two external electric vibrators of the NEA series. Opposing directions of rotation generate a directed vertical vibration that enables uniform compaction of the mixed-bed resin.
The consultation and design of the vibration parameters were carried out directly at the customer’s site in order to optimally coordinate vibration direction, drive power and mechanical boundary conditions.
