Vibration solutions for small‑pack screw packaging – reliable carton filling without bridging or downtime
In small‑pack screw packaging, a manufacturer was experiencing recurring disruptions in the automated end‑of‑line packaging process. After dosing, the screws were filled into cartons and transported via conveyor belts to the closing station. Particularly during automated carton filling, bulk materials prone to interlocking can quickly lead to process disruptions and quality issues.
The customer was facing the following typical challenges:
- Screws stand upright in the carton, interlock with each other and cause bridging
- Cartons cannot be closed reliably
- Recurring interruptions and unplanned downtime in the packaging process
- Unstable process sequences and significant efficiency losses along the line
- Increased manual effort for corrections and rework
Our solution
By using vibration tables equipped with NTK vibrators from NetterVibration, the screws are stabilised inside the carton and evenly distributed. Our application engineering team ensured a solution precisely tailored to the customer’s process requirements:
- Process extension & integration: Installation of four vibration tables, one table per line, mounted underneath the conveyor belts. Integration was carried out without interrupting material flow and with trouble‑free transfer to downstream robotic processes, with no impact on ongoing operations.
- Equipment: Each table was custom‑designed for the application and equipped with an NTK series vibrator. Adjustable table widths allow flexible adaptation to different carton and packaging sizes.
- Function: Uniform settling and levelling of the screws inside the carton to reliably prevent interlocking and bridging.
Our advantages
- Reduced downtime, as cartons can be closed reliably and disruptions caused by bridging are minimised
- Increased process reliability and line stability thanks to even product distribution within the carton and securely closed packaging units
- Lower manual intervention due to a stable automated process and fewer corrective actions in the packaging operation
- Improved packaging quality and repeatability, even at high cycle rates in continuous operation
